Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) has named Carlos Gomez (pictured above) as its new head of insurance, effective from January 30, 2024.

Gomez, who is currently the head of GC&C for the Mediterranean & Latin America regions, will retain his existing role on an interim basis while taking on his new responsibilities.

As per his LinkedIn, Gomez’s career in the insurance industry extends over 30 years, all within the Generali Group, where he has assumed several key leadership roles. His significant achievements include driving Generali’s expansion in the Iberian and Latin American markets.

Since 2013, Gomez has been instrumental in establishing and transforming GC&C’s presence in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, demonstrating his capability to lead and innovate within the sector.

In his upcoming position, Gomez will be responsible for leading GC&C’s insurance operations across all aspects, including corporate portfolio management, enhancing efficiency across the underwriting, pricing, loss prevention, and claims handling processes.

“Over the years, Carlos has excelled in leading the Mediterranean & Latin America region. I am convinced that his extensive experience gained in these key markets will be invaluable in guiding and further enhancing this strategic function and in serving our clients at the highest level,” GC&C CEO Christian Kanu said.

Elsewhere, the insurance group also announced that it will return €500 million to shareholders, following acquisitions last year that are set to boost its non-life and asset management businesses.
