Gallagher Re names Lara Mowery chief commercial officer

She will drive strategic directions and expand product capabilities at the firm

Gallagher Re has appointed Lara Mowery (pictured above) as its new chief commercial officer, the company announced.

In this role, Mowery will help shape the company’s strategic direction and enhance its product and practice group capabilities.

With over 30 years of reinsurance experience, Mowery has held leadership roles across the industry and has been involved with the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) as a member of the Broker Advisory Board. She will be based in Minneapolis.

Before joining Gallagher Re, Mowery served as global head of property and global head of distribution at Guy Carpenter.

“I am excited to welcome Lara to our team. Her leadership will support Gallagher Re’s continued emphasis on delivering a targeted and bespoke client offering by further aligning our product expertise worldwide to serve clients wherever they are,” said Tom Wakefield, CEO of Gallagher Re.

Mowery also expressed optimism about her new role, citing opportunities to expand the company’s capabilities.

“It’s an exciting time to join Gallagher Re. I see a huge opportunity, as part of this growing business, to support and develop enhanced capability to our clients. Our rapidly developing technology and analytics framework will allow for greater responsiveness for evolving challenges and future risk dynamics,” she said.

Earlier this month, the reinsurance broker also announced two key appointments to its life and health reinsurance team.

Sanjeeb Kumar has joined as chairman of life and health, India, and Addise Li has been appointed head of life and health reinsurance for China and Hong Kong. These new roles are part of Gallagher Re’s strategy to expand its reinsurance business in key markets.
