Gallagher Re hires global distribution head Lara Mowery from Guy Carpenter

Reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has made a key appointment, hiring senior executive Lara Mowery, the Global Head of Distribution at Guy Carpenter, the company confirmed today.

Lara Mowery had worked at Guy Carpenter for almost 27 years, so her departure will be considered a loss by the company, we suspect.

Mowery had joined Guy Carpenter in 1997 and became the Head of its global property reinsurance practice.

In 2020, Mowery became the Guy Carpenter Global Head of Distribution and also joined the Executive Committee of the reinsurance broker.

That key role saw Mowery with oversight of all of Guy Carpenter’s global placement and distribution strategy, while also being tasked with setting standards for client/broker/reinsurer interactions at the company, and overseeing activities related to systems and tools that drove interaction with the markets.

Now, Mowery is set to join rival Gallagher Re in a senior role, the company has confirmed to us. We don’t yet know what  Mowery’s position will be at Gallagher Re, but it’s expected to be similarly senior, we understand.

At Guy Carpenter, in Mowery’s place, Jenn Paretchan has now been promoted to become Guy Carpenter’s Global Head of Distribution and Market Relations.

Paretchan was most recently the reinsurance broker’s Managing Director and Deputy Leader of Centers of Excellence and Client Experience.

She has worked at Guy Carpenter for more than 24 years, in increasingly senior broking and client relations roles.
