Gallagher builds on construction and energy with key Asia appointment


Gallagher has strengthened its Asian foundations with the appointment of Mark Chan as its head of construction and energy within the region. In this role, Chan will lead the insurance broker’s growth plans in North Asia as he works closely with the specialist global energy and construction teams operating from the UK and the US.

Armed with 25 years of industry experience spanning the China, Taiwan, and the Macau markets, Chan has managed client portfolios across construction, power and utilities, infrastructure, and energy. Chan previously worked at Oneglobal, where he held the responsibility of developing its construction, power, and energy client base across North Asia. He also held senior roles at Allianz, AON, and Marsh.

According to his LinkedIn, Chan has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the National Taiwan University and  a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from National Taiwan University. He also holds an MBA from National Chengchi University.

In this new role, Chan will report to Gallagher North Asia CEO Thomas Wang.

Gallagher recently made headlines as it is the only firm under the insurance brokers category of Etisphere’s 2023 World’s Most Ethical Companies list.
