FSC announces return of flagship consumer conference
The Financial Services Council’s (FSC) flagship event returns this year, as the regulator announced the 2023 Building Consumer Confidence Conference from Aug. 15 to 17. The event will include members from the financial sector as various panels, keynotes, and exhibition spaces delve into key issues facing New Zealand ahead of the 2023 election.
FSC CEO Richard Klipin said that this year’s theme is “building consumer confidence,” and unpacking how the sector can come together to support those who need it most.
“The government and Opposition have some policy decisions to make ahead of the upcoming election, and we look forward to once again engaging with political leaders to collaborate on how we can all shape New Zealanders’ financial futures,” Klipin said in a news release.
A sector facing many issues
Klipin said that a major focus of the event will be delving deep into various issues that the financial sector in New Zealand faces, including the tail of COVID, extreme weather events, and further economic uncertainty.
The upcoming conference will feature leaders from across the political spectrum, in addition to regulators, chief economists, academics. There will also be local and international experts sharing the latest research and insight in building consumer confidence and financial wellbeing,
Attendees can also expect to experience focused sessions on challenges and opportunities across the sector, including KiwiSaver, investment and funds, life and health insurance, diversity and inclusion, and Workplace Savings.
The regulator also recently looked into strengthening its community and corporate outreach with the appointment of David Bishop as its chief marketing officer, a newly created role.
