Forensic engineering service Pario swoops for Atlantic region firm

Pario Engineering & Environmental Sciences (Pario), one of Canada’s leading providers of forensic engineering and environmental sciences services to the risk management and insurance industries, has acquired Contrast Engineering as part of its plan to establish an expanded presence across the Atlantic provinces.

Contrast Engineering is the largest multidisciplinary forensic engineering and sciences firm in Atlantic Canada, with offices in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. Founded in 1998, it offers services such as vehicle collision assessments, building collapse investigations and fire spread analysis.

Senior forensic engineer and company president Grant Rhyno said Contrast’s goals are in line with Pario’s “commitment to delivering exemplary client services from the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals in Canada.”

“I am excited to join Pario to continue to deliver the best service in our industry,” he said. “We have been looking for the right partner to offer our clients the strongest.”

Pario operates under its parent company SCM Insurance Services, experiencing several years of organic growth through an expanding roster of clients. To boost national presence, the company established a Calgary office in 2019, followed by several key hires, including the appointment of Denise Gaeta as vice president for national business development in 2020. Its acquisition of Contrast will push this nationwide expansion further, Pario said in a statement, permitting the delivery of services to clients from “coast to coast.”

“This partnership solidifies our commitment to the Atlantic Canada market and our national client base,” said Pario president Len Copp.
