Food delivery platform foodpanda Malaysia is enhancing insurance coverage in partnership with PolicyStreet to provide accidental protection for its riders and their families beyond their working hours.

As part of an effort to support and safeguard its delivery riders, foodpanda Protect+ is an additional accidental insurance program that offers 24/7 double protection for delivery partners and their immediate family members.

Delivery riders also have the option to extend this coverage to include their spouses and up to two children for RM6, with an additional RM1 fee for each additional child. For single delivery riders, the insurance top-up plan can be extended to cover their parents at the same rate.

This initiative complements the existing free insurance coverage provided to all delivery riders during their shifts, with each partner already insured for up to RM100,000 in the event of accidental death or permanent disability while on delivery assignments.

“At the heart of foodpanda’s mission lies our commitment to pushing the boundaries of providing unparalleled care for our delivery partners, with their families in mind this time,” foodpanda Malaysia head of logistics Shubham Saran said. “There is no better day than today at the Rider Appreciation Day, for us to take another step forward to empower our delivery partners to safeguard the well-being of their loved ones through foodpanda Protect+, which now extends beyond their professional endeavours.”
