Everest Reinsurance has announced the appointment of Mark Wallace (pictured above) as the head of its UK branch and chief underwriting officer, pending regulatory approval.

Wallace, who is based in London, succeeds Paul Tester, who has transitioned to the role of senior vice president, executive advisory director, international reinsurance. Tester will maintain his position as head of UK branch during the regulatory transition period.

Before joining Everest, Wallace spent 10 years at Hiscox plc, where he served as pricing actuary and head of pricing for transport, energy, and recall. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Royal Holloway University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

He previously held the position of deputy chief underwriting officer and head of long tail at Everest Reinsurance UK. In his new role, Wallace will oversee the strategy and underwriting operations of Everest Reinsurance’s UK branch. He will now report to Artur Klinger, head of international reinsurance.

“Mark has been instrumental in elevating our UK business and is well positioned with extensive global liability and specialty reinsurance expertise and a strong relationship network to lead our growing business as we continue to deepen our foothold in the UK market. I want to thank Paul for his exceptional leadership over the past 16 years and look forward to working closely with both of them and our senior team to position us for future opportunity,” Klinger said.
