Ethan Godlieb of Aon UK is the Oliver Rose BIBA Young Broker of the Year 2024
The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has named Ethan Godlieb, Broker – Cyber and Tech E&O of Aon UK Ltd, as its young broker of the year 2024.
The two runners-up from a field of exceptionally high quality were Bamishe Alao from Willis Towers Watson and Ana Gomes-Freire from Berkeley Insurance Group Limited.
The award recognises the performance, contribution and future potential of younger brokers and encourages commitment to the future professionalism of insurance broking.
Speaking about the winner BIBA CEO, Graeme Trudgill says: “Ethan showed a determination from the offset to showcase his abilities and innovation – elements he delivered on throughout the process. It is wonderful to see our younger professionals have such an understanding of their industry and a willingness to immerse themselves entirely in it. With a hunger for knowledge, a passion for change and visionary leadership, Ethan portrayed a dedication that was impossible to doubt. He is a worthy winner.”
Though there can only be one winner, the judges were very impressed with all of the shortlisted young professionals, emphasising that the quality of entries really was exceptional this year. In choosing the other two finalists they highlighted that Bamishe is an advocate for positive change in ED&I, is an excellent communicator and determined to succeed. Choosing Ana as a finalist they highlighted how she inspires others with her passion to deliver and the additional industry roles she has taken on.
Trudgill adds: “I’m immensely proud of our three finalists. Not only do they shine with their desire to succeed they are all highly engaged with our sector. Role models like these will certainly help attract new talent to our sector and continue to make insurance broking a career to be proud of.”
The Oliver Rose BIBA Young Broker Award is judged by a range of independent insurance professionals and recognises the career progression, sector participation, professional education and development of BIBA member brokers aged 35 years or younger. Last year the award was renamed in the memory of the late Oliver Rose, who sadly passed away in March 2023. Oliver was the BIBA Young Broker of the Year in 2016 and made some great contributions to our sector and his employer.
