Elementum Advisors hires Andreas von Reitzenstein as SVP Underwriting

Elementum Advisors, LLC, the insurance-linked securities (ILS) fund and collateralized reinsurance investment manager, has announced the hiring of Andreas (Andy) von Reitzenstein as Senior Vice President, Underwriting in Bermuda.

von Reitzenstein, a well-known experienced ILS and reinsurance specialist, is joining the firm’s Hamilton office and takes on a key underwriting role that will see him serve as a crucial member of Elementum’s Investment team.

His responsibilities will encompass underwriting, portfolio management, and origination for Elementum’s collateralized reinsurance inclusive funds, while with years of reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) market experience he will also provide leadership for the firm’s underwriting team, helping to continue the development of its underwriting associates.

Most recently, von Reitzenstein worked for Aspen Capital Markets, the third-party reinsurance capital and insurance-linked securities (ILS) operations of global re/insurer Aspen Insurance Holding Limited, as a Portfolio Manager based in Bermuda.

Prior to that, he worked for the Credit Suisse Insurance-Linked Strategies backed reinsurance vehicle Bernina Re, holding the position of Chief Underwriting Officer, North America.

Before which he held other roles in the Credit Suisse Insurance-Linked Strategies unit, first as a Senior Underwriter and then taking on the role of Market Head, Underwriting.

von Reitzenstein began his career at Glacier Re in 2007 as a catastrophe risk modeller and underwriter. He had previously interned at Munich Re, where he evaluated aerial images following Hurricane Katrina.
