Duuo by Co-operators has announced the launch of its embedded insurance API, which enables Canadian businesses to integrate insurance purchases into their websites, apps, or platforms.

The first product available in this new embedded format is Duuo event insurance, which provides event hosts with the option of booking a venue while simultaneously securing event coverage. Each policy is also underwritten by Co-operators.

“This new journey we’re embarking on rapidly expands our ability to allow our partners to grow and differentiate themselves in their own market, on their own terms,” said Steve Phillips, executive vice president, emerging business models at Co-operators.

“It also encourages Canadian businesses to think about how an embedded insurance solution can add value to their offerings. We’re flexible in our approach and I think that’s the greatest value here — we’re listening, adapting, and providing solutions that our partners and their customers will both benefit from.”

Following the rollout of Duuo event insurance, the company also plans to launch a tenant insurance API, allowing the integration of tenant insurance coverage into various platforms.
