Develop your team with a broker apprenticeship, backed by Aviva

Authored by Aviva

The week brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy. We understand that recruitment and staff retention is difficult for many businesses at the moment. Our 2023 Risk Insights Report told us that 63% of companies have struggled to attract new employees and 64% have struggled with staff retention.

Apprenticeships are a great way to grow your own talent, but also a great way to support an existing member of your team develop new professional skills. Here at Aviva, we’ve already helped Brokers with apprenticeship programmes and we’re keen to do more.

What’s the business benefit of an Apprentice?

“The apprenticeship programme gave us the confidence to take on a school leaver, knowing that the initiative that James Lucas and John Nutter (and others no doubt) had put together would provide the support and training required. The level of assistance this has provided cannot be understated – thank you very much to all involved. We already have our second Aviva-backed apprentice coming through the programme and I will be looking for a third in due course.” Andrew Leaver, Director, Letton Percival Ltd

What about retaining talent?

We, along with our partner Davies Learning Solutions can help you to attract and recruit the right talent, train your apprentice and support the person looking after the apprentice. We can also help to make sure you retain the talent with future career progression plans and trainings.

“We are extremely proud to have the backing of a company like Aviva. They are renowned for their quality training and development. Our apprentices will directly benefit from this throughout and ultimately have a full-time job, in a robust industry, at the end of their programme.” Lee Elgie, Managing Director, Erimus Insurance Brokers

What do the Apprentices have to say?

“The apprenticeship programme was a very beneficial journey for my career in all aspects. It gave me unique skills to help me develop further – such as relationship development, time management, communication techniques and a lot more. My coach, Amanda, gave me an incredible amount of support from start to finish and was very helpful when I found some tasks difficult to complete. Overall, it was a very supportive journey that helped me push my career forward and helps me feel more confident within my day-to-day job.” Lilli Johnson, Commercial Insurance Broker, Letton Percival Ltd

“The apprenticeship that Aviva put me through was an amazing experience. Not only did it teach me many lessons about insurance, helping me gain my certificate in insurance, but also helped with own personal development. The support and help that was given by Aviva and the Davies group was superb and really helped me through my studies. I would recommend this apprenticeship to any broker who has staff that are looking to grow as people and further their careers in insurance.”  Gareth Rowett, Commercial & Agricultural Director, Rowett Insurance Broking Ltd.
