DCL sponsor the Little Edi Foundation’s Summer Scheme

Direct Commercial have been supporting the Essex-based children’s charity, Little Edi Foundation, for many years.  Their mission is to listen to the needs of the most vulnerable children and families in our area and support where they can. This may be by giving aid, including fresh food, toys, school equipment and uniform or by creating development opportunities for disadvantaged young people in Essex.

On Monday 24th July, their annual summer scheme started (now in its third successful year!) which provides local children with a full week of activities during the summer holidays, entirely free of charge.

To kick off the week, two coaches collected the children and the Little Edi helpers and took them for a day at the seaside in Frinton. The rain stayed away and the children were able to play games on the beach, paddle in the sea and build sandcastles!

On Wednesday, everyone enjoyed a family picnic and games at Admiral’s Park and Friday’s activity for the younger children (4-7 year olds) was a trip to Marsh Farm.

All families taking part in the scheme were given supermarket vouchers to pay for any picnic contributions and games and beach toys were purchased as part of DCL’s sponsorship to make for an enjoyable week of activities!

To everyone at the Little Edi Foundation, a huge well done for helping to organise such a fantastic scheme. These outings wouldn’t be possible without the support of the young helpers and volunteers who dedicate their time to making sure the children have a wonderful week.
