David Perry presented with BIBA’s Francis Perkins Award

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has named David Perry, Chief Executive of FSB Insurance Service, as the winner of its 2024 Francis Perkins Award.

Francis Perkins, the first Chair of BIBA, instigated the award to give recognition to members of the Association who give their time and energy to promote the causes of the insurance broking sector.

The judges selected David because of his incredible contribution to BIBA. David has been an influential advocate and a consistent support in BIBA’s journey for over 20 years, sitting on BIBA’s main Board and multiple other BIBA advisory boards and committees1.

David’s desire to help support small businesses has seen him lobby for schemes and facilities to help and support members. He was pivotal in delivering BIBA’s new starter membership structure for businesses that are not yet authorised – delivering a unique support for start-up, non-regulated businesses.

He has been a huge support to BIBA’s London & South East Committee, particularly in pushing for a younger and more diverse committee, which he successfully achieved.

Graeme Trudgill, BIBA CEO, said: “David was one of the first members I met when I joined BIBA in 2001, his extensive involvement on BIBA’s boards and committees is probably a member record!  As well as bringing a huge amount of market knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the wide range of roles that he has held within BIBA, he has always been a voice of reason.  He has given so much of his time, all for the benefit of BIBA and insurance brokers.  We thank him for his longstanding commitment and all that he has helped to achieve over the last two decades.”

David added: “I’m absolutely delighted to receive this award. My main advocacy has always been for smaller firms, like mine was when I first got actively involved. BIBA is such an important champion for us and supporting its work feels like time well spent.”

David is generously donating his prize to the Lives Not Knives’ a charity supported by FSB Insurance Services as part of their commitment to support initiatives that make a difference in communities. This charity is dedicated to preventing knife crime and empowering disadvantaged young people.
