Bermuda-based legacy re/insurer Compre has announced the appointment of Zameer Mitha (pictured) to the newly established position of group commercial director within the group’s business development sector.

Mitha, who began his tenure at Compre as chief actuary for North America in 2022, will now spearhead business origination efforts in both the European and Lloyd’s markets. His responsibilities will extend to overseeing the group’s strategic market and product development initiatives.

With over two decades of experience across actuarial, strategy, and underwriting disciplines, Mitha’s career has spanned the UK, Europe, and North American insurance markets.

Prior to Compre, Mitha held roles at ArgoGlobal, including head of transformation and head of strategy & business operations for EMEA. He was also a board member for ArgoGlobal and worked at Argo Group and KPMG UK in various roles.

For this new function, he will report directly to Compre’s group CEO, Will Bridger, and will also collaborate closely with Connie Tregidga, the group’s M&A director, on the analysis of Compre’s retrospective reinsurance transactions.

“I am delighted that Zam has agreed to take on the new role of group commercial director at Compre,” Bridger said. “He has a broad background across several insurance functions and markets that position him extremely well to provide leadership to many of our key client relationships across Europe and Lloyd’s, as well as providing oversight and challenge to our evaluation of transactions. I look forward to working closely with Zam in this new role.”
