CHU makes key leadership hires

CHU Underwriting Agency (CHU), named one of Insurance Business Australia’s top insurance employers for 2022, has welcomed two new insurance leaders to the team.

The company has appointed Alison Bell to a newly created role of claims relationships and governance manager in Sydney, effective August 22, 2022. She has worked in property claims for 18 years in the UK and Australia – most recently as the state operations manager for Crawford & Company, where she worked for four years.

In the newly created role, Bell will help CHU navigate the challenging claims regulatory and compliance environment and manage the relationships of various service providers on the company’s panels.

Vincent Norton Scott is CHU’s new technical claims manager in Melbourne, effective August 29, 2022.

Scott has more than 17 years of property claims experience working for insurance giants such as Tower, Vero, and QBE. At QBE, he was a claims relationship manager for Steadfast brokers and Gallaghers before becoming a technical claims officer in the major loss team. For the last two years, he has been the senior technical claims specialist at Guild Insurance. He was also a member of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) panel, focusing on the industry’s COVID-19 business interruption response.

David Gow, who has been the head of claims since his appointment earlier this year, said the two new hires will join Kara McInnes, national claims service manager, on the claims leadership team to expand its array of skills and experience.

“At various forums, intermediaries have frequently shared with me how they hold our claims team in high esteem,” Gow said. “The addition of these high performers with an established industry profile will add to the strength that already exists in our team.”
