Chaucer has made a strategic leadership change by appointing Hayley Spink (pictured) as its new group chief operating officer – she will take the role in the fourth quarter. The move is significant as it aligns with Chaucer’s aim to enhance its operational efficiency and service strategy amid a competitive insurance market.

Spink will lead the company’s operations and service strategy, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and processes across the group. Her appointment is pending regulatory approval.

She joins Chaucer with over 20 years of experience in the London Market, having held senior roles at Lloyd’s. She is currently the chief operating officer at Apollo Syndicate 1969.

“We are delighted to welcome Hayley as Chaucer’s new group chief operating officer. Her strong operational background and considerable experience will be key in ensuring we maintain a fully optimized operating model across every aspect of the group,” Chaucer group CEO Richard Milner said.

This leadership change coincides with the planned retirement of David Bendle, the current group chief operating officer, who will step down at the end of the year after 22 years with the company.

“I’m greatly looking forward to joining Chaucer and working closely with the team to build on Chaucer’s excellent reputation,” Spink said.
