Chartered Insurance Institute Public Trust Award winners 2022 revealed

The winners of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)’s Public Trust Awards were announced (30 September) at a virtual ceremony, hosted by the professional body’s President Peter Blanc.

The Building Public Trust Consumer Champion Award was won by Michaela Gibson, Inclusive Culture Program Manager of Apollo Syndicate Management, for her work on a steady succession of initiatives, with a variety of organisations, with the aim of making our profession a more attractive career option and helping to retain talented people.

The Consumer Inclusivity Initiative Award went to Equiniti for their work in supporting over 13 million members and annuitants by creating accessible services for all customers, and in particular for vulnerable customers, through the use of technology.

The Building Public Trust in Life, Pensions and Long-term Savings Award was won by David Arme, Independent Financial Adviser of financial planning firm Cheetham Jackson, for his work with local radio and appearances in the Derbyshire Times to build public trust in the financial planning profession and dispel misinformation.

The Building Public Trust in Insurance Award was given to FloodFlash, for their work in providing flexible, fast insurance to businesses across the UK. Flood Flash uses data and technology to build back consumer trust in two core ways: guaranteed claim values that customers choose, and rapid pay-out of claims using smart sensor technology.

The Building Public Trust Consumer Marketing and Awareness Award was given to Zurich International Life Limited Middle East for their annual Customer Benefits Paid report, which aims to increase awareness and educate consumers in the Middle East about the need for life insurance and critical illness protection.

The Talent Attraction Initiative of the Year Award went to Empower Development for their work on Into Insurance, which is a free training course designed to help illustrate the knowledge, preparation and behaviours organisations are looking for.

Their trainers have used their experience in recruiting and managing graduate and school leaver schemes in the insurance profession to give insider tips and advice to help candidates get ahead. To date more than 30 participants have found employment in the insurance market following completion of the course.

Presidents Awards were presented to Debbie Mitchell, Director of Atholl Scott Financial Services Ltd, and Eleanor Moore, Director of Private Clients of Broadway Insurance Brokers, for their significant contribution to the work of the CII over many years.

Peter Blanc, President of the Chartered Insurance Institute, said: “The Public Trust Awards personify the values of the CII’s purpose, by recognising the work undertaken in the public arena by key individuals and companies going that extra mile to promote professionalism.

“I congratulate not only the worthy winners but all of the entrants, the individuals and organisations, who work so hard to increase awareness and confidence in the power of insurance and financial planning.”
