Health insurance firm Bupa has announced the appointment of Shane Buggle as non-executive director for its Australia-New Zealand board.
“Shane rounds out an experienced, diverse, and highly capable ANZ Board to help guide Bupa ANZ’s executive team on the next phase of our ambitious strategy to deliver connected care for our customers,” Bupa ANZ chairman Tony Johnson said.
Who is Shane Buggle?
With more than 30 years of experience spanning the lines of banking, insurance, and consulting, Buggle has a deep understanding of financial and professional services along with an extensive international experience.
Buggle began his career as a senior accountant at Touche Ross & Co. He then became the senior manager for corporate finance at the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Melbourne before joining ANZ as senior manager for group finance. Afterwards, he left for a role at Zurich Financial Services in Ireland before serving as CFO at CPA Australia. Then, he came back to ANZ and climbed up the ranks before landing his new role in Bupa.
Buggle will also become the chair of the board’s audit committee starting on 1 June 2024.
Buggle said he was honoured to join Bupa’s ANZ board. He also said that he was looking forward to working with the rest of the board members in order to support the firm’s growth.
“The health sector is undergoing a major period of growth and transformation, and I’m looking forward to continue to build on Bupa’s strong foundation and improved customer outcomes,” said Buggle.
Stuart Hooper has also been appointed to the ANZ board following his appointment as chief financial officer for Bupa APAC in March.
