Bupa has announced that its managing director health services, Glenn Thompson, will step down from his role on Oct. 27.

Guneet Sawhney, currently director of Bupa optical and hearing, will take on the role of acting managing director health services until the insurer chooses Thompson’s replacement.

Sawhney has been with Bupa for over eight years, beginning with the transformation team and PMO before moving to health services. He has successfully grown the optical and hearing customers and delivered strong results, building a solid culture aligned to the company strategy.

Health provisioning business

Bupa’s health provisioning business includes Bupa’s optical and hearing and dental businesses, along with deals with the Australian government that enable Bupa to undertake immigration health examinations for Australian visa applicants and provide health services to Australian Defence Force members and veterans.

Commenting on Thompson’s departure, Stone said: “I would like to personally express my gratitude to Glenn for his contribution and for his calm and considered approach in leading our Health Services business. I, along with our executive team, and our team across our health service business, want to thank Glenn for his contribution and wish him all the best for his next adventure.”

Bupa has already started an internal and external executive search process.
