AXA XL has announced that Paul Bishop joined the Boards of AXA XL Underwriting Agencies Ltd and AXA XL Insurance Company UK Ltd (AXA XL UK) as an independent non-executive director on 17 May 2023. Mr. Bishop will also Chair the Audit Committees, subject to formal regulatory approval.

Mr. Bishop spent the majority of his career at KPMG where he was a Partner from 1993 to 2014. He has specialised in the insurance sector for over 30 years, particularly life insurance, and led KPMG’s insurance consulting practice. He also spent 18 months on secondment at Standard Life as Head of Financial Change in the period leading up to its demutualisation and flotation. 

Currently a non-executive director of Just Group plc and its insurance subsidiaries, Just Retirement Limited and Partnership Life Assurance Company Limited, where he Chairs the Group and Subsidiary Audit Committees, Mr. Bishop will be rotating off the Just Group Boards at the end of June 2023. 

Mr. Bishop is a chartered accountant and also serves as a non-executive director of the National House Building Council and of Zurich Assurance Limited. Previously, he served as a Non-Executive Director of Police Mutual Assurance Society from 2017 to September 2020.
