AXA XL Re names Mark Twite CEO, Bermuda

Long-standing Bermuda-based employee Mark Twite has been promoted to become the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bermuda of AXA XL Reinsurance, the reinsurance underwriting arm of AXA XL.

Twite steps into the CEO position at AXA XL Re from October 3rd.

He will take on responsibility for AXA XL Re’s strategic growth in Bermuda, ensuring the effective deployment of capital in order to drive a stable and sustainable portfolio as part of AXA XL’s reinsurance strategy.

As CEO AXA XL Re, Twite will also work closely with the AXA XL ILS Capital Management team, who are also Bermuda based and currently manage around $1.2 billion in third-party capital.

Twite is currently Chief Financial Officer, Reinsurance at AXA XL. He took on the role of Head of Strategic Business Finance for AXA XL in 2019 and also continued as Head of Assumed Reinsurance Finance, a role he took on in 2017.

Previously, Twite also held the role of Chief Financial Officer of Catlin Insurance Company Ltd. and came to AXA through its acquisition of XL Catlin.

He held a range of increasingly senior financial positions at XL and XL Re, having joined that company in 2009, prior to which he worked at Liberty Syndicates in London.
