AXA XL has announced the appointment of Renaud Guidée as the new CEO of its reinsurance division, effective Sept. 1.

Guidée will be taking over the position from Nancy Bewlay, who has been appointed as the group chief underwriting officer. In her new role, Bewlay will join AXA’s management committee and report to Frédéric De Courtois, the group deputy CEO.

With his extensive background in finance and risk management, Guidée, who currently serves as AXA Group’s chief risk officer, will lead AXA XL’s reinsurance business.

Scott Gunter, CEO of AXA XL, expressed his confidence in Guidée’s appointment, highlighting his financial expertise and professional experience gained during his tenure as managing director at Goldman Sachs.

“Over the past year, we have strategically repositioned our reinsurance portfolio, and we are already witnessing the positive impact of these efforts in our engagements with clients and brokers,” Gunter said.

“I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Nancy for her exceptional leadership in the reinsurance business and congratulate her on her new role within AXA Group.”

Prior to joining AXA, Guidée served as a managing director in Goldman Sachs’ investment banking division. Guidée also worked as a special advisor to former IMF managing director Michel Camdessus in 2010.

Guidée is the latest appointment for AXA XL. Last month, the company announced that Vicky Roberts-Mills had been named head of energy transition and appointed Dan Bendavid as global innovation lead.
