AXA XL, the property & casualty and specialty risk division of AXA, has added a chief client officer function to its leadership team.

Taking on the newly created post is former chief transformation officer Manuel Meier (pictured), whose previous roles include Switzerland country manager. Originally a broker, Meier spent more than 12 years at Zurich Insurance before joining AXA XL in 2018.

Commenting on the appointment, AXA XL chief executive Scott Gunter said in a release: “Today, our clients look to us to provide more than traditional risk transfer – they are seeking a partner to provide the insights and services that will help them to navigate emerging and evolving risks.

“Through our established risk engineering expertise and the newly formed DCP (Digital Commercial Platform), we can combine our risk and prevention knowledge with tech and data capabilities, keeping the client at the heart of our business by creating a truly global, collaborative offering.

“Manuel has a wealth of industry experience gained from client-facing roles which makes him a great fit for this position. I am excited to see this new role develop and to hear client feedback.”

DCP, which will be overseen by Meier, is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing AXA’s value proposition. As chief client officer, Meier will “represent the voice of AXA XL’s clients” while working with strategic partners in the market and across the insurer’s business units.
