Aviva’s Norwich to London 200km Cycle in support of Alzheimer's Society

Authored by Aviva

On 8 September, a group of riders from Aviva and its insurance partners are undertaking a 200km cycle challenge from the historic Norwich office to Aviva HQ in London, in support of the Alzheimer’s Society through the Insurance United Against Dementia campaign. September is also World Alzheimer’s Month; we aim to raise as much money as we can to fund the vital research carried out by the Alzheimer’s Society developing treatments for this disease.
“Alzheimer’s Society and the fight against dementia is a cause really close to my heart after losing my grandfather after a long struggle with the disease and my grandmother currently suffering with dementia. I’ve also had experience of witnessing early onset dementia with some former colleagues and competitors during my time as a professional rugby player, some being affected even before turning 40. The impact on the lives of not just the individuals suffering with the disease but also the family and friends is beyond comprehension. Everyone has been impacted by this disease in some way and have their own stories of dementia, so being able to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society is hugely important.” – Sam Twomey, Broker Development Manager.

The advances made in recent years give hope to those who are fighting the disease and anything we can do to help drive the progression of treatments and understanding forward will hopefully contribute to the next steps.

Every contribution really does count, and we appreciate any support you can give. Your generous donations will fuel the charity’s mission to create a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
