Criterion Underwriting, an Australian firm specialising in insurance for the waste and recycling industry, has declared its entry into the New Zealand market.

This development follows the establishment of its operations in the UK.

Why did Criterion Underwriting expand into NZ?

Criterion Underwriting managing director Sam Mayne expressed the strategic significance of expanding into New Zealand.

“New Zealand has been on our radar for a while, and we are thrilled to officially extend our capabilities into the region,” he said.

Jeremy Priest, the firm’s commercial director, pointed out the scarce availability of specialised insurance in the waste and recycling sector in New Zealand.

“We see New Zealand as a natural extension to our business in Australia,” he said. “Given the limited market for waste and recycling insurance, our expansion opens doors to tailored insurance solutions for a highly specialised industry.

“We look forward to providing our new and existing broker partners with a streamlined process and a one-stop shop for managing hard-to-place property and liability risks.”

Criterion Underwriting aims to enhance the experience for both new and existing brokerage partners in New Zealand by simplifying access to insurance for challenging property and liability risks.
