Aspen hires Tim Mardon as Global Head Property Cat, CUO Bermuda

Aspen Insurance Holdings has announced a senior hire, bringing onboard Tim Mardon as Global Head of Property Catastrophe Reinsurance and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of Aspen Bermuda, joining the firm from his most recent position at SiriusPoint.

Mardon will be based in Bermuda and joins Aspen effective November 14, also becoming a member of Aspen Re’s Leadership team, reporting into John Welch, Chief Underwriting Officer, Reinsurance.

He has more than 30 years of reinsurance market expertise, most recently having worked at SiriusPoint, where he was Global Head of Property Reinsurance.

Previously, Mardon has held senior positions at reinsurers Chubb Tempest Re and Torus Re in Bermuda.

Mardon will manage Aspen’s Global Property Catastrophe Reinsurance portfolio and oversee the development and execution of its business strategy, while ensuring the consistency of underwriting standards globally.

In addition, Mardon will head up the Bermuda Reinsurance team, a leading global hub for underwriting catastrophe risks.

Philip Hough will continue to be responsibile for Other Property at Aspen, in addition to leading the EMEA and Latin American businesses out of Zurich.
