Arch appoints new head of terrorism, political violence, and war
Arch Insurance International (Arch), Arch Capital Group Ltd’s wholly-owned subsidiary that provides specialty risk solutions worldwide, has welcomed terrorism expert Andrew Bauckham to its highly experienced underwriting team as the new head of terrorism, political violence, and war.
Bauckham brings a wealth of experience in the terrorism insurance arena to the Arch underwriting team, most recently as the head of political violence and crisis management at Chaucer, having joined the company in 1998. He had also served as the chair of Lloyd’s Markets Association’s Terrorism and Political Violence Panel.
In his new role at Arch, effective immediately, Bauckham is responsible for managing underwriting activities across a board portfolio spanning NCBR (nuclear, chemical, biological, or radiological) terrorism, political violence, SRCC (strike, riot, and civil commotion) & malicious damage, terrorism liability, terrorism and sabotage, and war and civil war.

Bauckham will report to Lino Leoni, chief underwriting officer (CUO) for short-tail lines at Arch.
Leoni said Bauckham’s extensive market experience and breadth of relationships enable him to play a crucial role in further enhancing the company’s customer-service-focused approach and delivering the division’s growth ambitions.
“Andrew is one of the most respected figures in the terrorism insurance market and is an outstanding addition to our team at Arch,” Leoni added.
Bauckham’s appointment follows Patrizia Barattini’s entrance to Arch last month as a new senior professional liability underwriter.
