APRA releases December statistics on intermediated general insurance
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has released its bi-annual intermediated general insurance statistics report for December 2022, providing an overview of the general insurance placed with APRA-authorised general insurers, Lloyd’s underwriters and unauthorized foreign insurers (UFIs).
The report includes industry-level data relating to business placed by intermediaries, as well as business placed with UFIs that is segmented by region, exemption type, atypical risk class, and customized reason. The database presents the intermediated general insurance statistics data in a database format.
This data provides valuable insight into current trends in the general insurance industry, helping stakeholders make informed decisions about future investments and operations. This macro view can be complemented by a micro view of particular markets or subgroups if required.
Analyzing this data can help customers make sure they are adequately protected from potential risks associated with their business activities. Companies will also be able to analyze the potential cost savings offered through improved risk management practices, understanding which risks pose a greater threat and therefore should be targeted first.
