Aon hires Aeolus PM Jake Nichols as Global Reinsurance Clients Leader, Bermuda

Broking giant Aon has announced the hiring of former Aeolus Capital Management portfolio manager Jake Nichols, as its new Global Clients Leader, Bermuda, within the firms Reinsurance Solutions division.

Nichols brings expertise across the reinsurance and collateralized space, having worked at Aeolus Capital Management, one of the leading ILS fund managers focused on the collateralized reinsurance and retrocession product.

Nichols will remain based in Bermuda and will report to Dave Nicholson, head of Aon’s Global Reinsurance Clients (GRC) segment.

Nicholson commented, “We are excited to have Jake join our growing Global Reinsurance Clients team, which highlights our continued investment in this area and ongoing drive to deliver optimal value for clients.

“In addition to his specific account responsibilities, Jake will act as a GRC conduit into the Bermuda market, identifying capacity for our clients in order to navigate volatility by helping shape better decisions.”

Nichols began his career with an almost decade long stint at reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, where he became a senior vice president.

Nichols then joined Aeolus Capital Management in 2020 and spent over three and a half years working as a Portfolio Manager for the collateralized reinsurance and retrocession specialist asset manager.

At Aon, sitting within the brokers’ risk capital capability, Nichols will be tasked with developing innovative risk transfer solutions that can optimise clients’ capital strategies, matching risk with capital to create growth opportunities for the industry, with a particular focus on global clients.
