Allianz donating €6 million after Turkey-Syria earthquake

Allianz Group has committed €6 million – including as much as €1 million to match employee and agent donations – towards relief and recovery efforts following the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

In Turkey, the international insurer employs more than 2,000 people across its Allianz, Allianz Partners, and Allianz Trade businesses. Group boss Oliver Bäte described the donation as “an expression of our solidarity” with colleagues and customers and their families.

“These resources are also an expression of our unwavering confidence in the ability of societies and individuals to rebuild and thrive in the wake of natural disasters,” added the chief executive in an emailed release. “The people of Allianz, everywhere in the world, are at the ready to play our part in supporting those efforts.”

“As the devastating consequences of the earthquake continue to unfold, the only appropriate response is to take immediate action – both through financial support and by activating the various support networks we already have in place,” commented Allianz SE management board member Sirma Boshnakova.

“Allianz has had strong, historic ties with Turkey and its communities for a century, and we are doing our utmost to ensure the safety and support of our customers and colleagues who have been directly contributing on the ground.”

Allianz Türkiye CEO Tolga Gurkan, meanwhile, believes “we will overcome this difficult time and rebuild stronger than ever” together.
