Alliant Insurance Services has announced its acquisition of health insurance agency Health Market Solutions, LLC (HMS).

Founded in 2022, HMS is focused on direct-to-consumer Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans, which combine advanced data science and human expertise in helping consumers decide on their healthcare. The Florida-based health insurance agency has grown to serve thousands of clients in more than 20 states.

The agreement between the two firms comes as a period of rapid growth is envisioned within the ACA marketplace. For the third consecutive year, enrollment for health plans has set a record as more than 21 million people have signed up through health insurance marketplaces for 2024.

Alliant chief executive officer Greg Zimmer noted that HMS had managed to achieve significant growth within a short period of time by combining service and innovation.

“Partnering with Health Market Solutions provides an opportunity for Alliant to further expand our reach in the ACA market, while also investing in top-tier talent and technologies that will solidify our strength in the marketplace,” said Zimmer.

Alliant Consumer Group senior managing director Rick Ulmer said that HMS’s team would bring additional innovation and market intelligence, which would help in the continued expansion of the firm within the ACA market.

“HMS offers a potent combination of exceptional growth, high-level service, and strong strategic relationships,” said Ulmer.

With the acquisition, HMS will be part of the Alliant Consumer Group, which includes the firm’s portfolio of consumer-facing operations. Its entire team will be joining Alliant.

“Alliant’s vast experience and longevity in the insurance industry, combined with its entrepreneurial culture and results-driven leadership, played a significant role in our decision to join forces. This strategic partnership will immediately provide innovative new tools and resources that will allow us to grow and scale even faster in the ACA market,” said Josun W. Staatsma, the president of HMS.

The terms of the agreement between Alliant and HMS were not made available to the public.
