Airline strikes – how can BIBA Schemes help you?
UPDATED TRAVEL ADVICE AS OF 05/07/2022
Jackson Lee Underwriting – Holiday Travel Scheme
In light of recent travel disruptions, we’d like to highlight that this scheme does in fact cover Travel delay and abandonment (see Section 11) as long as they booked the trip and purchased insurance before any announcement of strike action. This section would either pay out a travel delay benefit of £50 for every 12 hrs up to £400 in total or client has the option to abandon trip and claim for irrecoverable costs of the holiday. Unfortunately, if you purchase the policy or book a trip after the announcement of such strike action, then there would be no cover.
General exclusion 13 p73, This policy does not cover:
Foreseeable circumstances
Any circumstances, such as Strike or Industrial Action, that were known or could reasonably have been anticipated at the time an Insured Journey was booked or the Policy or cover was purchased, whichever is later.

Customers are covered for strikes under Travel Delay and Abandonment and Missed Departure providing there was no reasonable expectation the trip would be affected, and it was not a known event at the time of booking trip/taking out the policy.
There is no cover for cancellation.
For Travel delay and abandonment see Section 4 clause 2a and for Missed departure see Section 3 clause 1 of Gold and Gold Plus policies.
