AILA to host international insurance law congress in 2023

The Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) has announced the schedule of the AIDA (international insurance law association) XVI World Insurance Congress in 2023.

The event is held every four years, but Australia has hosted it only once before – in Sydney in 1994.

Next year’s insurance congress is themed “Insurance upside down,” with the logo depicting Australia being at the top of the globe instead of “down under.” It will start with presentations from each of AIDA’s 13 working parties that closely examine specific insurance issues from global and regional perspectives.

Afterwards, panellists and expert speakers will present sessions directed at four key themes:

Climate;
Conflict;
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG); and
Careers.

Congress chair and AILA’s immediate past president Angus Kench said the congress is a unique opportunity to draw international visitors from AIDA’s global chapters to Australia and will enable attendees to:

Learn from Australian and international experts;
Network with likeminded professionals from across the globe; and
Contribute to driving outcomes for the global insurance industry.

The AIDA XVI World Insurance Congress will be held from August 30 to September 1, 2023, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Ticketing is already open, with discounted early-bird offers available.

The speakers’ program is constantly being updated as industry experts from around the globe sign on to speak. The latest version is at www.wica2023.com.
