AIA NZ announces enhancements to post-claim recovery program

AIA New Zealand has announced an enhancement to its post-claim recovery program through a range of support options meant to increase customers’ ability to get back to normalcy post-claims.

Called the Post Care Recovery Program, it gives customers who have finalized their claims a bespoke agenda ahead of returning to work. They are also assessed after three months to check on the recovery progress and address if there are any additional requirements for the claimant. This support package can include physiotherapy or occupational therapy, as well as psychologist appointments or gym memberships.

The program is an extension of the insurer’s 360 Care, which in 2022 provided more than $1 million in rehabilitation support for customers.

“The sooner we can get our customers back to a normal life, the better”

Angela Busby, AIA NZ chief customer officer, said that the insurer wants New Zealand to be “one of the healthiest and best protected nations in the world.” The Post Care Recovery Program is integral to AIA NZ achieving this through asking New Zealanders where they most need support post-claim.

“The sooner we can get our customers back to a normal life, the better it is for their overall health and wellbeing. This is what the Post Care Recovery Programme targets,” Busby said. “We look forward to working alongside New Zealanders even more closely to get the most out of their rehabilitation and recovery, in a way that works best for them.”

A recent study commissioned by the insurer found significant positive results from a lifestyle medicine program aimed at improving health outcomes for those impacted by type 2 diabetes.
