AGCS makes two senior appointments for Asia-Pacific

AGCS Asia-Pacific has appointed Samuel Bartram (pictured above left) as regional head of marine, and Trent Cannings (pictured above right) as regional head of energy and construction.

According to the global insurer’s corporate and specialty arm, Bartram and Cannings both have extensive industry experience that will benefit the regional strategies for their respective lines of business and support the development of the AGCS’ global operations. They will manage all regional underwriting staff in their respective lines and further strengthen relationships with brokers and clients.

Bartram is based in Hong Kong and will relocate to Singapore in the second half of 2023. He has more than 15 years of insurance experience and was most recently founder, underwriter and responsible officer at Alliance Risk Transfer Limited. He spent more than 10 years at the Ascot Group, where he held major appointments such as director and chief underwriting officer, Asia, and head of marine underwriting, Asia.

Cannings will begin in his new role on Nov. 9, and he will be based in Singapore. He joins from AIG, where he accumulated over 20 years of experience in a wide range of roles in Asia-Pacific, including in Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. He was most recently head of energy and construction at AIG Asia-Pacific, and held previous key appointments, such as head of property and special risks in Hong Kong, head of global property for Northeast Asia, and construction centre of excellence manager, APAC.
