Aeolus hires tropical cyclone specialist Hennon as Senior Research Scientist

Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment fund manager, has announced the appointment of weather and climate meteorologist Dr. Chris Hennon as Senior Research Scientist.

Hennon is a tropical cyclone research scientist and meteorological consultant who specialises in weather and climate research, forensic meteorology, and tropical cyclone risk.

Prior to joining Aeolus Capital Management, Hennon has been working as a Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona.

Previously, he has worked as Chair and a Professor at the University of North Carolina, as a meteorologist at climate and weather consulting firm acclimate, LLC, and as a Visiting Scientist at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research.

Aeolus Capital Management explained, “Dr. Hennon has a broad background in meteorology and climatology, and over 25 years of experience in research and teaching at universities. He received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Ohio State University, specializing in tropical cyclone modeling and prediction.

“Dr. Hennon’s skillset, capabilities and experience will help advance the Aeolus Research function in its ongoing work to improve risk analytics, refine portfolio management and enhance the investor experience.

“Based in the U.S., Dr. Hennon will also leverage his academic experience to develop Aeolus’ growing network of academic and scientific collaborations.”

Aeolus Capital Management’s research division is led by Dr. Peter Dailey, who joined the ILS investment manager as Head of Research in 2021.
