Aeolus Capital Management hires Thuell as AVP, Underwriting

Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment fund manager, has announced the hiring of William Thuell to its Bermuda underwriting team as an Assistant Vice President.

Thuell comes with a career history that included over four and a half years spent at an insurance-linked securities (ILS) fund manager, with time also spent in investment banking and fund management, at the start of his career, and reinsurance more recently.

Thuell started his career as an analyst at Citi, before moving to Bermuda and joining asset manager Orbis Investments.

In 2018, Thuell joined ILS manager Elementum Advisors, where he spent over four and a half years as an Associate.

In 2023, Thuell joined SIG Re, a reinsurer and was an underwriter based in Bermuda for the company for more than one year.

Now, Thuell moves back to the collateralized and ILS management side of the market, joining Aeolus Capital Management this week.

Aeolus highlighted Thuell’s expertise in underwriting and portfolio management in property reinsurance markets.

At Aeolus, he will remain based in Bermuda and his focus will be on risk sourcing, cedant relations, underwriting and portfolio management, the company said.
