Why summer is the best time to buy life insurance

family at viewpoint

To paraphrase an old song, summer’s here and the time is right for … buying a term life insurance policy.

Why is that? Well, we have a few reasons. But really, there’s no wrong time for getting life insurance — for less than what you pay for streaming services, you get coverage that helps ensure your loved ones won’t endure financial hardship in the event that you’re not around. (Think about it: You pay for everything from the mortgage or rent to groceries. Who will foot the bill if you can’t?)

But because summer is here, we thought we should explain exactly why now is the time to quit procrastinating and apply for a term life insurance policy.

In this article:

It’s hot

And life insurance will keep you cool. Here’s how: You know how you sweat when you feel panic and fear? Well, if you have a life insurance policy in place, you have one less thing to worry about — you know that your family has financial protection in case the worst should happen. Better yet, you can get that protection at a monthly rate that’s probably lower than what you paid for the last family pizza dinner, or for concessions at the ballpark.

See? You feel cooler already.

It’s hot, part II

Come spring or fall, you’ll be all about long walks in nature, taking in the sights and scents of budding and/or dying leaves. Come summer, though, it’s all about that a/c. And since you’re inside anyway, you might as well take a few minutes and apply for life insurance. Thanks to Haven Life’s simple online process, you might be able to get coverage in minutes — or about how long it takes to cool off from a hot walk around the block.

Summer Fridays

If you’re lucky enough to enjoy a half-day off every week (or even some weeks), you know how easy it is to waste those precious afternoons doomscrolling or playing Wordle.

Looking for something more productive to do with that time? Try applying for life insurance. It only takes a few minutes, and eligible customers in excellent health can enjoy some great rates. For example, a 30-year-old man in excellent health can get a 30-year, $500,000 policy for $29.99 per month.

Trust us: Wordle will wait.

Summer vacation

And you know what that means: Relaxation, exploration, and, of course, an increased chance of death. In 2021, an estimated 42,000 Americans died in a traffic accident. If you’re hitting the road this summer, there’s a non-zero chance it’s the last drive you’ll ever take. (What can we say? We spend a lot of time with actuaries.)

But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing you can do. Wear a seatbelt, for one. For two, consider getting your life insurance policy squared away, so that your family is covered in case something happens. It’s now

And if you don’t have a life insurance policy in place, now is always the best time to change that. After all, you’ll never be younger than you are right now, and the younger you are, the lower your monthly premium is likely to be. You’re also likely healthier than you’ll ever be — if autumn brings an unexpected diagnosis, for example, you’ll probably have to pay a lot more for life insurance, or even struggle to find coverage. We obviously hope that doesn’t happen, but why risk it?

Still not convinced? Get a quote and see for yourself. And then make sure to drink plenty of water, enjoy a few hot dogs or veggie dogs, and wear plenty of sunscreen. And if things get too hot, cool off by thinking of the sweet, sweet relief that comes with peace of mind.
