When to Look for Cheaper Exam-free Life Insurance After Getting Rejected

I am a 36M. I am generally healthy, but failed bloodwork for cheap life insurance about 5 years ago and was denied. I ended up getting more expensive coverage ($1m for $75/m, age 31 to 51) through USAA. I tried applying for no-exam life insurance a bit ago and had to answer "yes" to the question of whether I had been rejected by other insurers in the last 5 years due to a health check. The 5-year period is about to elapse and I'm thinking of shopping around for no-exam coverage again.

Pretty much everything but the blood work is great for cheap insurance. Are there any gotchas to trying out no-exam insurance again? Also, does me starting a no-exam application and then getting denied for answering "yes" to having been rejected in the last 5 years start the clock all over for that question? Or do I only have to answer "yes" if I actually went through the health exam and got rejected?

Does anyone have a company they would recommend?

Thanks
