What in the WORLD should I do?

Okay, so a really really watered down explanation of my scenario: My father and I share the same name, he’s a Junior, I’m the Third. My siblings and I found out he died back in December and unfortunately he didnt have a will and we were unaware of any life insurance policy until I received something in the mail from this AIG company. It lists me as his beneficiary and when I called to check on when a claim was filed and who even filed a claim, the representative I spoke with stated in order for me to get any info, I’d have to provide a policy number which none of us have. We’ve gone through the entire house and documents and have nothing with AIG listed except the “Life insurance claim follow up” notices.

I have no idea what I could/should do but I’m open to suggestions. Is there another way to find a policy number? Is it possible the folk at AIG may have missed the suffixes or something? Anyone else ever go through something like this?
