Was moved to a different tier due to white coat syndrome

Howdy,

So I was initially quoted $90-92/mo for 30 year term, 500k coverage. I am in great condition, 45yo.

I went in for my medical screen. They had me wait outside the clinic, which was in a supermarket, so I went around and did some isle browsing while waiting.

When I went in, I sat down and they immediately took my BP. It came back at 142. Took it again, 140. We waited 3 minutes, I breathed to calm down a little, and came back at 129, which is what my BP usually is.

This literally happens at every doctor's appointment. It's a shade of white coat syndrome. My normal physician has had zero issues with my BP and we never really talk about it at my physicals because once I calm down, it comes in normal.

They called me yesterday and now my tier went from preferred to normal and now they are quoting me $149/mo. I'm pretty pissed. They told me it's because my BP is high. I told them that no, in fact it isn't because I have an average BP of around 128-130. No history of high blood pressure in my family either. They say they take an average of all three readings which makes it 141. I explained they must not understand how to calculate an average. It's technically 137 but that's still high for me and not accurate. Either way, that's that and they won't budge.

The only option I have, and they explained not a guarantee but they would advocate for me, is to get a letter from my normal physician to say I have a history of this happening.

Just wanted to post this here to see if there are any suggestions or advice on how to move forward.
