Wait in a Transamerica IUL or take a loss

Hello! For the past year and a half I have had a Transamerica life insurance IUL account. I originally bought the policy since I saw it to be a way for a young person to get set up for a return later in life with a monthly premium now. I was set up by my friend, and the agent was very kind and worked with me and answered all my questions through the process.

However, my mind has changed and I do not seek to continue this policy, as I think it would be in my best interests to invest in different ventures, as I now see this is not truly an investment which I was told.

I have tried to speak with my agent about pulling my money out twice, and that I do not want to be in this policy anymore, but I continue getting the response that I would be losing money since my cash value is less than what I have put in so far, and that I need to wait and keep putting money in to raise the cash value, but of course they cannot answer when the cash value will go up since it is based on the market.

I do not want to lose any money (my cash value is about $800 less than I have put in) but I do not want to keep feeding an investment that I will never see a return on.

Is it smart to hold on for now or cut my losses and pull out everything?
