I got my license in august, 25 years young, on my 8th week so far and have done almost 40k in annualized premium. I think I lucked out finding a great IMO that works well for me. I specialize in final expense whole life and contracted with 12 carriers (I only really use like 5 of them though.) I have gotten the go ahead to start building from my up line. I literally started researching a week ago and while I know this can’t be done overnight, it seems harder than I expected.

“Warm market” building (friends, family, etc) is tougher for me because on a personal note, I’ve burnt some bridges. So I’m pretty introverted these days. Also, people I know are either doing fantastic financially and wouldn’t leave, or they’re just bums that job hop. But im staying on the lookout.

I tried doing “cold market” (indeed, ads, ZipRecruiter) and it seems like a waste of time. I held a group zoom interview tonight with a few people and it was embarrassing.

I considered a recruiter, but the service was 5k a month and I can’t justify that this early on.

I’m about to spend a day this weekend going to AT&T and Verizon shops, maybe a restaurant, even a club just to find people that are similar to me. Not sure yet. We call this “money market.”

I guess my question is for anyone on here, who has built a successful team – in life insurance or even something else. Any advice and suggestion you have to the younger new guys in the industry? Thanks!
