take out policy for "deadbeat" dad (?) advice?

I (F20) am wondering what the benefits would be from taking out a life insurance policy on my dad (M42). He is not that old, obviously, but he’s a lifelong smoker, drug addict, and never paid child support or helped me financially (besides occassional $20 or $40 here and there). He doesn’t have any formal diagnoses because he doesn’t have health insurance. Most of his $$ goes to supporting that lifestyle and paying off debts to people dumb enough to lend him money. He hops around jobs, so he does have some income.

Also, it wouldn’t be without consent. I do talk to him and he would be willing to sign anything for me because he does love me and has guilt about not being a good father. But considering I don’t have to depend on him financially, is there any benefit to me doing it? I am his only child and I was raised by a single mom. I’m taking out loans to get through college and working 20 hours/week. Would it be a better idea for my mom take it out on him since she’s the one with a child with him?

Apologies for my ignorance on the topic but appreciative to any answers!
