Switching from whole life to term life due to cost and payout. Only one year in whole life. Need help picking…

Help me figure out how many years I should get for term life?!?!

So I just found out on here to stop wasting my money on a whole life insurance policy. It’s only 150k for myself 75k for my wife and 25k for my child. Paying 430 a month for 15 years on it. Thankfully I’m only a year into it so I’m going to be switching policies over to a term life.

My wife and I are looking between 750k to 1.25 million between 20 to 35 years. The monthly cost obviously beat the hell out of the whole life. I’m a 30 yo male and my wife is a 26 yo female and our premiums will be 136$ a month for 1.25 million for 35 years. That’s for the both of us. They also quoted us 1 million and 750k for several different years. Not sure which one to pick.

Is it worth going that long or should we go shorter to save some money going with the 25 year term for 1.25 million costing around 88$ a month?

Also has anyone heard of AGI (American general life insurance)? Select quote is who quoted us the best rates.

How do you know if these companies will actually pay out if you pass away or if they will try to Wiesel out of it?

Would love some feed back on this! Thank you!
