Should I cancel my variable universal life insurance?

about me: 38M, not married , no kids, only debt is house mortgage at 2.5 % interest rate He also sold the same thing to brother who doesn't have kids and not married a few months later than me. He is also pissed off after I explained to him.

VUL Insurance information: (Riversource) Variable Universal Life Insurance 6 by Ameriprise face amount/death benefit is $1,000,000, it also has long term care rider

Person who sold it: he was a CFP at Ameriprise that also managed my IRA. He did not offer any other life insurance options such as term. He just kept pushing for VUL with very minimal explanation of fees, surrender cost, etc.

Monthly premium: $514 , out of the $514, monthly cost of insurance= $259 6 months into account, Total premium paid: $9,000. Financial advisor asked me to pay $6,000 to deposit in account.

After reading the threads and searching online more it seems like it was a bad financial decision/un-needed ? (Wasn’t very knowledgeable and just naively signed up with the policy with my advisors). Surrender charges apply for up to the first 10 years. I can afford
the premiums however I don’t want to make another bad decision and throw money
away? Should I wait another ~9 or so years for the cash surrender value to go
up (are there any downsides besides loosing access to that money now) or surrender
and lose the $9,000
