Seeking recommendations after unfavorable health diagnosis

Seems like there are some really helpful posters here so hoping for some guidance. My spouse is currently a stay at home parent. They were recently diagnosed with a cancer diagnosis with an average lifespan of 3 to 6 years post diagnosis, although as I hope the outcome can be much longer/better under favorable circumstances.

Unfortunately because of prior health conditions I assumed my spouse would likely not be eligible for traditional life insurance (technically had a cancer diagnosis before, but the prognosis was really good — can live 30 plus years, but it evolved), but now I am really obviously regretting not trying harder. Ironically my family is well insured if I died, but now I am stuck with the reality of how I may need to take care of my young kids and still work without my spouse.

Any recommendations on a how to find a good broker or other suggestions? My spouse is too young to qualify for most guaranteed whole life insurance (younger than 45). I have currently maxed out the guaranteed group life insurance for my spouse through work benefits, but it isn’t much, and I hate the thought of having to work until my spouse dies just so I can keep coverage, and it’s unclear how the situation could evolve.

Also seems like due to being a stay at home parent there won’t be any SS survivor benefits, which I never appreciated either. So as a note to any random person who might read this post, please make sure you also insure a stay at home spouse, not just the parent with employment income!
