I’m not sure if this is the right place for this post, but if it isn’t, please let me know, and I’ll delete it.

My mother is 46 years old. She successfully underwent surgery for breast cancer, but I recently learned that there is another tumor in her stomach that will require surgery. This news has come as a surprise to us, as she has always been very healthy.

Given her health condition, I have started to worry about worst-case scenarios and realize how unprepared I am. I financially support my mother, and I would need to manage everything if something were to happen to her. As part of my planning, I’m considering how to prepare for potential final expenses, including burial costs and any other related expenses.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or advice you might have, as I have never been in this situation before. Planning for death is not something that is part of my culture, and I’m honestly quite unfamiliar with it. Would you recommend getting final expense insurance? If so, what type? Is there anything else I should consider? What are the best practices for handling a situation like this?
