North American company Claim taking longer than 6 months. Is this normal?

Hello,

Back in December my family filed a claim with the North American Company after the passing of my Father. My Dad had the claim for 10+ years and the only complicating factor with the claim seems to be that my parents were divorced which I have provided appropriate documentation for when requested over the past 6 months. I am currently the primary beneficiary listed on the claim and my mother is also entitled to money on the claim per their divorce agreement. The money would be spent the same way if it went to me or my mom since we are gonna pay off the family house and put my younger brother through school. I told the insurance company this and they said we could do an identification letter if we wanted to as well since my mother and I are in agreement of this.

When I made recent contact with the insurance company the agent I talked to was telling me the divorce documentation from the state records office is not what they are looking for and that an identification letter is not possible despite what the previous agent had told me. I was on the phone with this agent in stalemate feeling pretty perplexed about what to do since I have exhausted all resources and reached out to all parties that could have the information that they want. Is this normal or are they haveing me run around in circles now?

I am reaching a critical point in this claim as I have had to use school loans to help pay for my family expenses and am 1 month away from having payments on my mom's house lapse. Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am going to try and call again soon to see if I have better luck with a different agent.
